<p>
Hi,
Not too sure if anyone else has come across this, but when with nsclient I poll servers in different languages, because of this I receive lots of counter not found errors in the nsc.log file. As the file reach gigabytes in size within a month, I disabled the filelogger.
</p>
<p>
While this did fix the log file issue, it results in thte memory useage of nsclient++ reaching around 1Gb within a week. Has anyone come across this? I've tried changing every option in the nsc.ini, including debug=0, but it makes no difference.
</p>
<p>
Thanks for your help

Thanks again for the update, the binaries worked great. Much easier to update in buck with them too. The memory leak appears entirely gone and the program is totally stable.

<p>
Thats not so bizarre actually since I in the latest nightly added windows firewall support :)
</p>
<p>
I shall change so it wont fail on it though.
The new version should add an exception to the firewall rules during install (and hopefully remove it on uninstall).
</p>
<p>
If you want you can replace the binaries from the zip file to get "around this issue". but I shall try to fix the installer in a day or so.

<p>
I just tried the windows MSI installer for the latest build (3.7, 20090719-1520) and I get an error when installing:
</p>
<p>
<a class="ext-link" href="http://mccandless.co.uk/nsc.jpg"><span class="icon"></span>http://mccandless.co.uk/nsc.jpg</a>
</p>
<p>
I get the same error on Windows 2003 server and windows xp, whether or not NSclient was isntalled before. Bizarrely I had to enable windows firewall to install it successfully (not something I'd want to do on live server though!)
</p>
<p>
Is there some other work around to this?

Thanks for that, wow that was quick! I'll try it out now, it'll take a day or so to know if its not still ocurring.

<p>
Thanks for the reply, the errors are "count not found" because I'm looking for counters in different languages (we have servers in 4 different european languages) and each server will only have counters in 1 language. All the errors are expected, rather than a problem as such.
</p>
<p>
Thanks greatly for your help.

<p>
LOL,
</p>
<p>
This is (if I recall correctly) "by design" as I recently added a "feature" which stores the logged data when no logger is loaded (and logs them when the logger is available) which´never happens in your case.
</p>
<p>
I shall see if this is the case and fix it.
</p>
<p>
BTW, what kind of errors do you normaly et in the log? (is it something you would expect or something you want removed?)
</p>
<p>
I would generally consider any "errors" as a problem myself.

<p>
I should add I'm running the latest version of nsclient++ and it makes no difference what the ini file has in it, if filelogger is disable and checksystem enabled, I get ever increasing memory useage.
