Timeout readig NS-client packet

Hi,

I´m hoping you all can help me. I have a server (Windows 2003) that no matter what I do, I can´t get the NSClient to work with Nagios.

I´ve tried changing many configs, but the timeout error is always shown. This is the error I keep getting:

"NSClientListener.cpp(305) Timeout reading NS-client packet (increase socket_timeout)."

I´ve tried changing the default socket time out to many different values, and even using the -t in check_nt command, but nothing happens. In Nagios, the message I receive is:

" No data was received from host! could not fetch information from server"

I´ve disabled firewall, antivirus, installed nightly builds and nothing. I am able to telnet to port 12489 when the service is started.

Anyone can help me in that?

    Have you followed the guide for getting started with nagios?

      Hi Michael..

      Yes I have. I have in my park other 30 servers working fine. This is a particular one that is not working.

        Right... Then I can rule out the obvious.

        Well... Could you try enabling debug log and see if we have something more? Or preferably run: "nsclient++ /test" and give me the output.

            Just out of curiosity... what command are you running to poll NSClient++ check_nt or check_nrpe?

            Seems to me that "No data arrives" so I would guess some missmatch in the data. You might wanna telnet in and paste a command (something alng the lines of: 

            2&<password>&<arguments><CR>

            I can lookup the proper syntax when I get home (tomorrow)

              To clearify my check_nt vs check_nrpe question. check_nrpe uses the NRPEListsner module where as the check_nt command uses the NSCLientLIstsner module (different ports) in this case you "should" be using chekc_nt...

                Yep, you´re right. I´m using check_nt. These are the commmands I used in the test.. ./check_nt -H 10.0.0.13 -p 12489 -v UPTIME ./check_nt -H 10.0.0.13 -p 12489 -v USEDDISKSPACE -d SHOWALL -l c
