NSClient++ Help (#1) - Error 193: 0xc1 (#221) - Message List
On two of five win2k3 machines I have to administer NSClient++ service does not start - instead Services report that NSClient could not be started, and this:
Error 193: 0xc1
I'm using version 0.3.3.20 (2008-07-02)
If called from command line via -start, no output is given, not even normal "Starting NSClient++". Same for -stop. If called with -test I get usual output, no errors.
Log file is not even created.
In my NSC.ini I have default setup with only three dlls uncommented: CheckSystem.dll CheckDisk.dll NSClientListener.dll
..any ideas?

I would do uninstall and then install... (possibly just a: nsclient++ /uninstall followd by a nsclient++ /install)
ERROR_BAD_EXE_FORMAT 193 0xC1 %1 is not a valid Win32 application.
So the "service" most likely does not point to a valid exe file another option would be the wrong arcitecture ie. x64 on w32 or some such...

Thanks for reply, MickeM.
I've tried uninstall/reboot/reinstall, no go. Neither is there an architecture mismatch.
Waiting for an inspiration for now.

the "installer" does not (IIRC) run "nsclient++ /install" so re-installing wont do much but replace the binary.
If you check the registry you will find "which binary" it treis to run, make sure it is the same one (and that is it not located anywhere strange)
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\NSClientPP\ImagePath

I should have googled for this thing earlier. It is not related to NSClient.
Here's a solution:

Sorry for bothering you for nothing.
