NSClient++ Help (#1) - NSCAAgent and passive checks. (#307) - Message List
Within the NSClient++-Win32-0.3.5.zip there're 2 files that are related to NSCAAgent. http://trac.nakednuns.org/nscp/wiki/NSCAAgent
I was curious to know what steps I need to do to make it work with passive checks on windows server 2003.
pls be specific as much as you can regarding the following issues:
a) configuring the NSCA in NSClient++ on the windows machine to send to the nagios server.
b) configuring a check on the windows machine.
c) configuring the check to be a check submitted via NSCA.
What files i need to configure? to run? to add?
for example if i understand correct i should disable the remark from ; NSCA Agent is a new beta module use with care! NSCAAgent.dll
in the ini file.
what i want it list of configuration steps to have it work with passive checks on a windows server 2003.Rio12/17/08 14:42:57 (4 years ago)
ARGH!!!! stupid IBM laptop... accidentaly went "back" and lost my message :(
I can write a short guide on this during x-mas, but probably wont have time before. In general NSClinet++ will work much the same as *nix so if you can setup a *nix NSCA solution you should have little difficulty setting it up for NSClient++.
in short: 1, setup NSCA server on your nagios box. 2, configure it (password and encryption needs to be the same on nsclient++) 3, make sure your clocks are "about the same" or it wont work. 4, setup nsclient++ (and make sure it works) 5, enable NSCA module 6, configure NSCA section (password, server and encryption) 7, uncomment the check_ok from NSCA commands. 8, run: nsclient++ /test and see what happends.

Hello and thanks for your help.
i followed your stpes and configuration etc. right now passive checks don't get to the server.
in the client side (NSClient++) there's the following message in the log file (and also in the /test option from the command line).
error .\NSCAThread.cpp 173 <<< could not connect to: 111.222.333.444:5667 A socket operation was attempted to an unreachable host.
any ideas? checks?
the user, groups , port, password , encryption are configured afaik.Rio12/28/08 16:29:10 (4 years ago)
i handled it (iptables serivce not restarted at the Nagios server).
right now the passive checks still don't work.
from the logs:
message ..\..\include\NSHelper.cpp 238 no handler for command 'check_ok'!
message .\NSClient++.cpp 961 no handler for command 'check_ok'!
message .\NSClient++.cpp 476 NSClient++ -0.3.5.2 2008-09-24 started!
error CACHE.\NSClient++.cpp 453 Exception raised: could not bad library: 126 : the specified module could not be found in module LUAScript.dll
message CACHE.\NSClient++.cpp 370 attempting to start NSClient++ -0.3.5.2 2008-09-24
after that a lot of no handler for command 'check_ok' appear. if you can please let me know what need to be done to have the passive checks working...Rio12/29/08 09:17:46 (4 years ago)

sorry, forgot... I will fix during weekend (if I forget again feel free to hit me or some such :)
Anyways, I also got an abstract from a nagios book on the NSCA subject to publish so I think it will be pretty good...
