NSClient++ Help (#1) - Connection refused (#388) - Message List
I am using Nagios to successfully PING each machine in question.
I am running the NSClient++ successfully on my XP machine here at work. It answers the default questions Nagios 3.x suggests (e.g. C:\ Drive Space, CPU Load, Explorer, Memory Usage, NSClient++ Version, Uptime, W3SVC) without problem.
I load the same client and NSC.ini configuration file on a 2003 server. It still responds to PING's - but says 'connection refused' in Nagios for the other tests. When I run the nsclient++ with the /test switch, it responds to commands injected directly to it. It doesn't complain of any errors.
I modified the configuration file to allow access from any machine, no change. It still refuses connections.
What is this error trying to tell me? There is no Windows firewall running on the machine that does not respond. All the machines in question can PING one another (Nagios, my machine, and the PDC running Windows 2003).
Suggestions or an explanation as to what is trying to be communicated to me? Thanks much for any help the community can provide.

If someone has this error please (it is most likely a configuration issue): 1, follow the guide 2, post the debug log.

Im having the same issue on only one server. I compared the nsc file to my working servers and it is exactly the same.

I just fixed mine from the same problem. Try running a netstat -a you should see what port the client is listening on. Should be 12489, so if it is listening on 1248 change it to reflect what is in the nsc.ini file.
